The new frontier of the Label | eatparade
An innovative invention the Smart Tag, the smart label that changes color if the product is not safe.
It is a project developed by a team at the University of Milan Bicocca, Department of Materials Science, and Imperial College London, especially animated by alarming figures on food waste. Currently they are doing all the laboratory tests and it will take some years before the product can be marketed.
How many times in our fridge we watched with concern a food purchased, or because we are not convinced its appearance or maybe because we do not read best the expiration date, and if in doubt the product is often finished in the dustbin.
The new label records the temperature level of the food. To be clear, on the fresh produce will be applied a label if the product is not kept at the right temperature, will develop a chemical reaction (in blue) to warn us. This would serve to not make us find more disappointments, or spoiled food because it stored improperly. Label will be cheap and easy to use, say the creators, which will bring benefits to both producers and consumers.
