On the tables of Expo Milano 2015 we will have many delicacies unknown to Italians but appreciated in the rest of the world.
Among the pavilions of the Exhibition, there are dozens of strange foods to choose from: scorpions covered of chocolate, crocodile meat, chocolates of crickets and larvae, snake wine and much more.
Some of these foods are high in protein and represent the possible foods of the future.
Insects, for example, also rich of minerals, are part of the daily diet of millions of people in many countries, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Their exceptional nutrient source pushes researchers to find ways to use them for the production of flour.
The snake wine, however, seems to be an excellent tonic, drink in China and Vietnam and is achieved by placing an infusion in alcohol and the whole body of the reptile. Speaking of wine, wandering the exhibition site there are several strange products, for example, in South Korea you can buy the wine flower.
In the space of Zimbabwe, the cluster of cereals and tubers came the crocodile meat. Rich much protein, lean, with no cholesterol and rich in Omega 3, ideal for a healthy diet and proper. Another dish proposed by space of Zimbabwe is the zebra steak.
An absolute novelty, the puffer fish. Import it into Europe is illegal, but was granted a special exemption in the Universal Exhibition. For two days, it was possible to taste it in the pavilion of Japan. This sophisticated and expensive dish is called “fugu” and requires careful and delicate preparation to eliminate the dangerous poison. Chef with special license showed the public the art to cook.
