Expo 2015 - Quale futuro per Palazzo Italia? | eatparade
A few days after the close of Expo many wonder what will become of our Pavilion.
In total, there are 80 pavilions at Expo Milano 2015. The biggest of all is the Palace Italy that seems to be the only one who shall not be removed and remain even after the end of the event. “It must be the starting point of a major project involving the entire site.”
Being also the only in masonry, it was the longest and complex to build.
Different the fate of the other pavilions, about ten will be dismantled and rebuilt elsewhere in their own countries or in cities, while most will be destroyed.
Palace Italy is part of the Italian Pavilion, which in turn includes everything that is on the Cardo, the road that crosses the Decumano and on which stand the national pavilions. It is one of the most visited.
The Italian Pavilion also includes Lake Arena where by the mosaic of Michelangelo originated the Tree of Life, the true symbol of Expo, the work most photographed and admired. For now it is uncertain even its location after the event. To those who want the tree in city, Commissioner Giuseppe Sala explained that the management of the tree is too expensive, so there is not the opportunity to put it in the city.
