Eating breakfast regularly has a positive effect through the whole day. Scientific studies show that this habit is an integral part of a pattern of healthy and balanced diet and is associated with better health and wellness for all ages.

You should never skip breakfast. At the end of the period of fasting overnight, its function is to deliver the energy needed to address the activities of the morning and, more generally, of the day. An adequate breakfast improves memory, attention and has important nutritional, functional and metabolic values. Important for adults and vital for children, it should never be skipped.

Skipping breakfast increases nervous hunger, slows metabolism and can lead to weight gain. Women are more accustomed to eating a healthy breakfast (milk and coffee, biscuits, jam and cereals), while men drinks and food much more high in calories, such as brioche, milk and cocoa. Italian guidelines for proper nutrition (INRAN, 2003) suggest breakfast with about 15-20% of daily calories. Moreover, you should not repeat the same breakfast but, just as lunch and dinner, it is important to vary. A hearty and nutritious breakfast allows the body to stay fit and healthy. One mistake to avoid is eating too fast or too late to have breakfast in the morning.
