They have been given very different definitions of Sustainable Development<\/strong>. Today that is widely shared is contained in the report prepared by the Brundtland Commission, entitled “Our Common Future”.
\nThe Report offers interesting insights on the main subjects of attention, such as: population growth, power, energy, industry, cities, and global public goods. The intent is to outline the guidelines for a program to start the world economy towards a sustainable development both environmentally and socially.
\nSome authors prefer the term sustainability<\/strong> to sustainable<\/strong> development<\/strong> because it excludes any confusion in terminology with economic growth. The concept of sustainability, in fact, while entering itself in the fields of economics, comes to occupy a space on the border with ecology, physics and social sciences.
\nThe concept of sustainable development affirms the need to combine the three dimensions are inseparable and fundamental of Economics<\/strong>, Environment<\/strong> and Society<\/strong> so any plan or policy intervention must take account of this integrated vision and then define both the environmental impacts, both economic and social . The size must be analyzed in a systemic vision as elements that together contribute to the achievement of a common goal.
\nSustainable development, far from being a definitive state of harmony, but rather a process of change in which the exploitation of resources, the direction of investments, the orientation of technological development and institutional change must be consistent with the needs future. In the proposal remains an optimistic confidence in the technology that will lead to a new era of economic growth. The opportunities available to future generations depend therefore also on how technological advances will increase the productivity of existing resources.
\nWith the spread of the Brundtland Report is the formalized relationship between development and environment and the need to consider them as two absolutely inseparable factors in the planning of any strategy aimed at the progress of all humanity. Ultimately, the term sustainability will move us in the long term, aimed at ensuring the well-being of future generations.<\/span><\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
