The volume edited by Raffaella de Franchis, was made in collaboration with the <strong>Working Group of the Mediterranean Diet in Pediatrics Italian Federation of Paediatricians of Naples<\/strong> and with the <strong>Industrial Union Section Food Industry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The focus of attention is the Mediterranean Diet in the age of weaning, a lifestyle to be taken to have the benefits of healthy eating from an early age.<strong> Fruits, vegetables, many vegetables, olive oil, whole grains, fish and very little meat, rather than a diet too rich in fats, proteins and sugars<\/strong>, are useful for the growth and development of the organism, reduce the risk of obesity, cardiovascular disease, cancer and chronic degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer&#8217;s and Parkinson&#8217;s disease.<\/p>\n<p>The Mediterranean diet, in fact, besides being a way of eating, it is a real one&#8217;s lifestyle, is a civilization of the table, where the food is his code millennium. For the Greeks diaita meant &#8220;rule of life&#8221;, referring not only to a dietary pattern, but also referring to a lifestyle conducive to well-being, a way of life beautiful and good.<\/p>\n<p>It was the American physiologist <strong>Ancel Keys<\/strong>, the most important of the twentieth century, to realize, during the Second World War, the health benefits of this way of eating and coined the term &#8220;Mediterranean Diet&#8221; diet understood Greek etymology, as a lifestyle and not just as food.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 Monday, October 19, at the Expo in Milan, we held the press conference to present the book Scientific &#8220;The Mediterranean diet in the first year of life&#8221; at the Italian Pavilion, space HERE Pizza &#038; Pasta.
