According to the SIMA (Italian Society for Adolescent Medicine) in Italy 2 million young people between 8 and 19 years old suffer from an eating disorder.
The boys in fact, especially women but also men, are increasingly fascinated by the images that are shown every day by the media, images of people increasingly lean and which poses as a simulacrum of perfection to be achieved in order to be accepted in society and to achieve well-being and happiness.
Other causes of these disorders can be the body changes then of course you have the stage of growth, the inability to relate to parents, with the opposite sex, etc. ..
The age at which these disorders occur is declining more and more and this is important to act in schools so that it can be taught to children/young people how to have a healthy relationship with food.
What should be taught is that the images of fashion and television are not always right, you have to develop a critical ability towards the same, and especially if you have a problem you need to talk to someone and that close in on themselves can have only negative effects.
The project Let’s talk about it together aims, through meetings with experts of these diseases and to people who have experienced these disorders, to explain to the kids like anorexia and bulimia are not just alternative ways to lose weight but the real own diseases that can lead to very serious consequences to the body up to, in severe cases, death.
The focus of these meetings will be the testimonies of children who have made it to defeat these diseases and that will encourage school children to look for patterns that resemble more healthy and to get help in times of difficulty.
The program then will include a series of seminars on proper nutrition which must be balanced according to your age, your body size, lifestyle and their energy needs.
Crucial will then teach the kids, still in the phase of growth, how to stay in shape without going to forms of self-destruction as anorexia and bulimia. So as to have a healthy relationship with food.
