WFP – Progetto The Family Meal | eatparade
What does a family meal? “The Family Meal” is a photographic project wanted by the European Commission and by UN World Food Programme.
The shots of the photographer Chris Terry immortalize families that receiving food and assistance by agency of the United Nations in five countries on three continents distant from each other and portray the moment of sharing a meal. Families photographed, in Ecuador, Jordan and Myanmar, live in conditions of extreme poverty and represent all those millions of refugees forced to flee their homes because of the conflict. Eating with loved ones is a universal event and the world communities feel the need to eat together.
The goal of this project is to promote awareness about the problem of hunger in the world by exploiting the strong evocative power of images. The photo exhibition The Family Meal is still visible at the MAXXI museum in Rome until 8 November, as part of the representation “FOOD, from the spoon to the world.”
