The World Food Programme (WFP) is committed to the promotion of activities and programs aimed at increasing the power of women in the community.
Among the many projects of WFP there are: the program “School Meals” program “Food for Work”, “Food for education” and “vouchers or cash for food” put in place to bring our people closer in state of emergency food aid, the exchange of skills, to work and to school. The organization is funded by voluntary donations and donations from governments, private companies and individuals. Italy is considered, by many years, one of the most reliable partners of WFP in efforts to alleviate hunger in Sudan. Recently, in fact, Italy has provided significant contributions to the school feeding programs.
The project “Food for education” promotes literacy among vulnerable groups of women and allows you to learn a profession or learn to read and write. The program encourages the education of young students, eager to learn the alphabet and the basics of math. Thanks to Italy, WFP has continued to promote the schooling of girls and to promote the literacy of women who could not go to school as children due to social and cultural norms.
