Il Made in Italy e l'INRAN | eatparade
In Italy, the only public body of research, training and dissemination activities aimed at the study of food and prevention of diet-related diseases, for the purpose of consumer protection and quality improvement of agro-food production, INRAN “National Institute of Research for food and nutrition”.
The Institute was founded in 1936 by the famous scholar Saturday Visco, as National Institute of biology. Is in 1999 that turns in the present, where the traditional INRAN vocation of research and study to support our food system, alongside the institutional task to protect, inform and educate the consumer.
Through its activities, the INRAN provides technical and scientific support necessary to sustain and promote the Italian agri-food system, but also to promote consumer welfare through more informed choices.
In the agri-food field, Made in Italy, is based on a quality that is not only limited to the goodness and wholesomeness of foods, but it also means safety, wholesomeness, and origin.
The position of Italy in the field of products Dop (protected designation of origin) and PGI (protected geographical indication) is of absolute dominance.
The words “made in Italy” is crucial, as Italian foods are the most imitated and counterfeit goods in the world; everyone wants the Italian food, but buy especially Italian sounding. Not only that, with the boost of the market globalisation, the food made in Italy, is a niche product.
And, in an increasingly competitive market, the real challenge for the future is to ensure that quality products can be a real strength for the development of local food systems, in fact, through the promotion of traditional products and typical products that you intend to invest to revive international market small domestic industries.
