The Universal Exhibition in Milan invests central themes of the United Nations mission: food security, sustainability. Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life means food security, access to food, sustainability: all central themes in the work and mission of some of the most important organizations including the UN. One of the main active role of Expo 2015 is played by the world of education with its ability to sensitize the young generation to social issues related to food and the environment. The exceptional event of 2015 recognizes the school as the environment of choice where with appropriate actions, teachers, students and families, helping to develop a general climate of participation and awareness in recognizing the countless opportunities resulting from the Expo 2015.
School Project is a sharing platform to enable young people to discuss the issues covered during Expo 2015: Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life. The project starts with a job in the classroom, then with the opportunity to visit the Expo site. The ultimate goal is to build content and experiences for future generations. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, many initiatives have been organized on the theme of food and sustainability. The best projects of schools, from childhood to university, will be presented in the Italian Pavilion.
The objective of the participation of the United Nations at Expo Milano 2015 consist of convincing the visitors to end hunger in the world. Everyone has a role to play, starting from the commitment to change simple gestures and daily practices. Through collaboration with the School Project, the UN allows the younger generation to meet the important theme “Challenge Zero Hunger – United for a sustainable world”, to ensure that the wealth generated within the classrooms of all countries is shared with the community.
