Mangiamo locale | eatparade
If you take a look at the small outlets and supermarkets you will come across products, food and non-identical to each other, products that are essentially the same even if you are in a city other than their own.
It is therefore facing the incessant proliferation of so-called global products, products that can be purchased across the country, or even around the world.
These products, being very often imported from abroad, they have an additional cost in terms of transportation of the product, which results in a cost for the environment which is affected by pollution thus produced.
The project Let’s eat local is addressed to Primary School students who are between 11 and 14 years old and is based on the concept of eating and so buying products at km 0 (or nearly so), then the products that are marketed and sold in the same production area and that , accordingly, give a significant advantage to the consumer in terms of price (which often is reduced by 20-25% compared to the price of other products) and both in terms of reduced environmental pollution (are reduced in this way the transport and the consequent CO² emissions).
The project consists of a series of meetings with students to guide them towards more informed consumer choices, which will then disclose to their family and their acquaintances, putting them in front of the “real cost” of global products, costs not only of a monetary nature but also the environment, and therefore directly related to health.
The project is therefore based on the idea that if we start from the very young to transmit this love to the environment, and especially toward you, it will be easier for these guys to implement these principles in their future.
In addition, the tutor that will follow will show them how easy it is to change course, even in view of the rapid spread in the Italian cities of actual markets to 0 km.
