Pollution from fireworks

There are many dangers and damages caused by fireworks. They leave lists of wounded, there is the inconvenience caused to animals (some die of a heart attack for fear), and an often-overlooked problem: air pollution.

The beautiful fireworks with their smoke release into an enormous amount of fine particles made of metals hazardous to our health such as copper, aluminum, titanium, iron used as propellants and coloring agents, each of which in fact gives a specific color to the play of light. Moreover, are actuated by black powder gun consists of an oxidizer (potassium nitrate), a fuel (coal) and an accelerator (sulfur), which lead to the formation of carbon dioxide (CO2). These poisons, breathable by humans, remain in the air for several days. The negative effects on the environment are many, but also on wildlife, which is literally terrified by the noise. Environmental damage affects the health of the most vulnerable: children, the elderly and those suffering from respiratory problems.

Since there are very valid alternative, the question arises whether it would be better to give it up, not just for security reasons, but also especially for reasons related to our health and environment. The damage caused by the substances released into the air by fireworks is in fact equal, if not superior, to that caused by fires and toxic gases from cars. Obviously, you cannot recycle the fires and involves disposing toxic dispersions in water and soil. Some Italian municipalities have decided to prohibit their use in order to avoid the entry of fine particles in the air and the aggravation of an already precarious environmental situation.

However, soon the fireworks might become ecological.
